Why do I have psoriasis?
There are two main reasons why someone has psoriasis: an overactive immune system, and internal inflammation. Our immune systems normally protect us from ‘intruders’ eg a virus. If someone has psoriasis it means their immune system mistakes healthy cells for intruders and the T-cells attacks the body's healthy skin cells. The body then produces skin cells far too rapidly and these excess skin cells are pushed to the surface which causes internal inflammation. - Cover the affected areas overnight - protect the patches overnight
- Expose your skin to small amounts of sunlight - direct strong sunlight should be avoided, but some sunlight can be good
