Psoriasis manifests when the replacement of skin cells happens at a much faster rate than 'normal', a phenomenon whose precise cause remains unknown. Research indicates a link to immune system dysfunction. The skin continually generates new cells in its deepest layer.
Scalp psoriasis, a subtype of plaque psoriasis, may affect specific areas or the entire scalp, leading to the formation of patches with thick scales. The degree of itchiness varies among individuals, with some experiencing significant discomfort while others remain unaffected.
It arises when there's a malfunction of the immune system. The immune system instructs skin cells to undergo rapid growth. Instead of the usual weeks, new skin cells emerge within days. The surplus skin cells are not naturally shed by the body, accumulating on the skin's surface and giving rise to visible patches of psoriasis. These are the red flaky patches we see.
There isn't a cure for scalp psoriasis. You may have flare-ups and times where the plaques go away (remission). Treatment can provide relief for your symptoms and can include UV light or medications that can be directly applied to the lesions, injected into the lesions or taken by mouth
The primary prescribed remedy for scalp psoriasis in both children and adults is corticosteroids. Corticosteroids efficiently and rapidly alleviate redness, swelling, itching, and scaling. Its effectiveness surpasses that of other scalp-applied treatments. When used in accordance with instructions, this medication is considered safe.
The problem with this though is that as usual, it's a topical treatment. While it may help with symptoms, it does not treat the underlying cause of why you have psoriasis.
Only by treating from within and resolving the inflammation and by fixing your immune system can you actually eliminate psoriasis for good.
At Strength & Spices, we spent a long time researching to find an answer to psoriasis and a long-term solution. After a lot of work, it eventually paid off. We follow the same mentality as we did when we created our earlier products: we work on cause rather than the symptoms.
The cause of Psoriasis is mainly due to an immune system malfunction that makes the immune system attacks the skin cells mistakenly and consider that the skin cells are hostile cells. As a result, the skin cells to grow too quickly. New skin cells form in days rather than weeks. The body does not shed these excess skin cells.
1 - to treat the immune system and over come the issue at which the immune system attacks the skin cells mistakenly.
2 - to regenerate the skin and eliminate the itchiness and redness of the skin.
As a result of that, we combine two of our best selling products; the Immune Booster and the Inflammation Support capsules along with other ingredients that are excellent to regenerate the skin and reduce both redness and itchiness. Some of these ingredients include Nettle, Bladder Wrack and other foods and seeds like Flaxseed, Sunflower Seeds etc.
Our product helps with psoriasis with 100% natural ingredients with no side effects as long as the person improves their diet and lifestyle after they are treated. Otherwise the person will keep using our product where the psoriasis disappears.

It has incredible medicinal properties. This is why nettle was used fas a treatment for lower back pain and arthritis for hundreds of years. Furthermore, ground parts of the plant are considered beneficial for diabetes. This is because it can help regulate blood sugar levels.
Additionally, the stinging nettle possesses astringent properties that aid in tightening the skin. Its nutrient content includes many vitamins that provide a natural glow to the skin. This is why we include stinging nettle in our two skincare products to ensure maximum benefits:
The plant is rich in the following nutrients:
It’s a condition where the thyroid gland does not work properly and produces less thyroid hormones than the body requires. According to the National Health & Nutrition Examination survey, about 5% of the world’s population has hypothyroidism. A further 5% go un-diagnosed.
We should all maintain a healthy diet and overall lifestyle. However, it’s especially important for people who suffer from an under active thyroid. The reason why it’s so important for those who have this condition is because diet plays a key role in normalising factors including hormone production and regulation.
However, according to health experts, not all food items and groups are suitable for consumption if you are a hypothyroid patient. There are even certain foods that can increase the severity of the hypothyroidism.
Specifically, for those who suffer from Hashimoto’s, studies have shown that gluten-free, anti-inflammatory, and autoimmune elimination diets are the better patterns to follow
In this article, we cover the various foods you should incorporate into your diet, as well as the foods to avoid. Finally, we discuss the most important nutrients for hormone regulation.

In this article, we cover the various foods you should incorporate into your diet, as well as the foods to avoid. Finally, we discuss the most important nutrients for hormone regulation.
A diet rich in the following foods can help improve your overall health and promote healthy body weight management. Furthermore, getting in plenty of fibre is key as this can reduce your risk of constipation, which is another symptom of hypothyroidism.
Dairy product contain a high amount of vitamin D which is good for hypothyroidism. According to a study from the Indian Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism, vitamin D rich foods help to improve the level of TSH. It increases the production of thyroid antibodies in patients.
Additionally, dairy products such as milk, cream, cheese, contain other healthy nutrients including potassium, calcium, protein, and iodine, all of which help reduce the symptoms of hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism suffers usually struggle with their weight. Therefore, consumption of a low-calorie, high-density diet helps in weight loss. In addition, foods such as cherries and blueberries rich in antioxidants prevent the risk of cardiovascular disorders.
But keep one thing in mind, if you have thyroid problems, you should reduce the consumption of cruciferous vegetables, e.g. broccoli and cabbage, to a maximum of 5 ounces daily, as these vegetables block the absorption of iodine and decrease thyroid hormone synthesis.
Seaweed has the highest concentration of iodine, an important nutrient for the proper functioning of the thyroid. According a study, consuming iodine rich food is good for thyroid. This is the reason why kelp is the prominent ingredient in our Natural Thyroid Support supplement.
As mentioned, patients with hypothyroidism face constipation. Whole-grain foods, for example, bread, pasta, cereal, and rice, are rich in fibre. This means that whole grain foods help a lot with constipation and other bowel disorders.
Beans are an inexpensive and versatile food, and these are a good source of essential nutrients that provide energy to the body. They contain protein, complex carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins. Beans are an excellent way to help with hypothyroidism as there is such a great variety of beans to choose from such as red beans, white beans etc.
On the other hand, here are a few foods that you should avoid if you are suffering from hypothyroidism:
According to various studies, consuming soy may actually interrupt the absorption of thyroid medication. It’s important to remember that you shouldn’t take medication immediately after eating soy.
According to the Associate Chief of Endocrinology, fats interfere with the body’s ability to absorb the thyroid hormone replacement. Fats also affect the production of the hormone. So, it’s important to be mindful of your intake of fried and foods such as butter, mayonnaise and fatty cuts of meat.
As we have previously discussed, hypothyroidism slows down the body’s metabolism. This means that it is much easier for you to gain weight. Cutting down on your sugar intake is crucial to managing your autoimmune disorder.
Nutrients play an important role in managing hypothyroidism. According to experts, a deficiency in certain nutrients can promote hypothyroidism. This means that it’s even more important to maintain your nutrient levels in these, including:
Iodine is an essential mineral that plays an important role in the production of thyroid hormones. Studies show that the deficiency of iodine causes hypothyroidism. An iodine deficiency isn’t that common but those who don’t consume iodized salt, are pregnant, or vegan, are most at risk.
It should be noted however, that if you are deficient in iodine, a supplement specifically for this is usually not recommended. This is because an excessive amount of iodine can actually be harmful.
Another important nutrient is selenium. It is needed for thyroid hormone production and helps protect the thyroid from damage due to oxidative stress. It works in tandem in selenium. This means that if you are low in iodine, your selenium level will likely be low too, and vice versa.
Selenium activates the thyroid hormone, which helps to prevent hypothyroidism. Luckily, just 3-4 brazil nuts a day can help you reach your recommended daily selenium level intake.
Zinc is a healthy nutrient that activates the thyroid hormone. According to studies, zinc plays a supportive role in the release of the thyroid hormone. It regulates TSH which then prepares the thyroid glands to release thyroid hormones.
People with hypothyroidism can get a good amount of zinc from foods like beef, shellfish, oyster etc.
According to a study published in 2018, vitamin D helps a lot in improving thyroid function. It improves TSH as well as thyroid antibodies levels in people with autoimmune thyroiditis. Fortified milk has added vitamin D, protein, calcium and even iodine.
Conclusion
Having an under-active thyroid is not only a thyroid hormone-related problem, it affects your overall health. It can be the cause of weight gain, diabetes, extreme hair fall, fatigue and other chronic diseases. Hypothyroidism patients should try and incorporate specific foods into their diet because there are certain foods that can cause complications. Fresh fruits & vegetables, dairy products, fibre-rich foods, and whole grains should be consumed. On the other hand, soy, sugar, and fat should be eliminated as much as possible.
While there is no cure for hypothyroidism, the autoimmune disorder can be managed with a supplement. Specifically, ours is rich in iodine and selenium which helps to boost your thyroid hormone production, while improving mood and energy levels. Additionally, it helps to manage your weight. Learn more here.
As a final note, please always be mindful of taking medication for an under-active thyroid. Levothyroxine is known to come with serious side effects and while it helps reduce symptoms in the short-term, it will be something you will have to take for the rest of your life.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.

Chronic stress is detrimental to our bodies. The reason why is because the body will stay alert all the time despite there being no dangerous situation. The longer this goes on, the more likely you are to develop serious health problems.
High blood pressure is the first and foremost. Over time, this can cause heart disease and even a stroke. Don’t forget heart disease is the silent killer. I covered this in a previous blog post here.
Let’s sum up a little here of what we’ve discussed so far.
Chronic stress negatively affects the body in numerous ways including:
So now the question is, how do you know whether you’re stressed, or just wading your way through the year 2022. Remember when we thought 2020 was the ‘tough year we just needed to get through?’ Yeah, me too.
Stress will show in various symptoms. There’s actually four different types. These are: physical, emotional, behavioural and cognitive.
Physically, you will probably have aches & pains, headaches, an upset stomach, weight loss/gain or a stiff jaw. Emotionally, you will be moody, irritable, feeling overwhelmed. Behavioural and cognitive symptoms include memory problems, isolating yourself and developing nervous habits (nail biting, playing with your hair etc).
I would go into why it happens, but let’s be honest, life is tough. So whether you’re having money problems, moving house, starting a new job, getting divorced, there’s probably something going on in your life right now that’s making you stressed.
The reality is that we will never not be stressed to some extent. And that’s okay. But it’s important that we are aware of the basics and focus on finding a natural remedy that works for you. We’re all different, so what de-stresses me is probably going to be different from what de-stresses you.
Here are some top natural remedies for stress:
Boost those endorphins! It doesn’t have to be hitting the gym daily. Just a walk outside in the fresh air is enough. Or follow along a home workout or yoga session on YouTube.
Another stimulant that while might provide temporary comfort, doesn’t make you any less stressed.
I know, I know, easier said than done. But, besides lung cancer and heart disease, smoking can wreak havoc on mental health. Fight the urge especially when the more stressed you are, the more likely you are to reach for that pack of smokes.
Stimulant = not good for stress. While the short burst of energy feels great, what goes up must come down. This doesn’t just cause more stress, but anxious feelings and insomnia too.
Need I say more? Take a look here!
Personally, this helps me greatly when I struggle to fall asleep. It’s all about being mindful and putting aside even ten minutes a day to be present with just yourself.
Sometimes, you just need to let those thoughts out. Journalling helps to process any feelings that you are struggling to work through and help understand situations you aren’t sure of.
The calming effect is incredible. If you haven’t tried sleeping with a weighted blanket, give it a go. It helps!
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! Ditch the junk. I know that when you’re stressed, you’re more likely to want to devour that tub of ice-cream, crisps, chocolate, whatever is in sight, but it just ends up doing more harm than good.
If I could take my dog with me everywhere I go, I would. I guarantee I would be significantly less stressed. Animals really are the best.
Lavender, orange, lemon, chamomile are just a few essential oils known to help lower stress.
Especially with the pandemic and working from home, it’s been easier to forget how to make meaningful connections. We need these connections for our mental health generally. Plus, venting to a friend or family member always helps.
It’s all about you 💚
Let me know if you have any others that work better for you. It's good to help each other so the longer the list, the better.
P.S. It goes without saying that if you’re feeling any level of stress, get a jar of our Anti-Anxiety supplement. It’s a life saver for so many people, myself included. It helps to calm me down while boosting my overall mood. Plus, it helps me get consistent sleep, something I was really struggling with.
P.P.S When stress is affecting your daily life, it might be necessary to contact your doctor or therapist. Be safe everyone xx

Alternative Names: Cacao Tree, Cacao Bean, Chocolate Tree
Native to South America, the cacao tree was first domesticated 5,000 years ago. The beans from these trees are picked and go through limited processing. They ultimately become the cacao powder we are more familiar with.
Due to their rich nutrient content, cacao beans are known as the ultimate Amazonian superfood. They are rich in Tryptophan, an essential amino acid, which your body converts into the brain's "happy chemical", serotonin. This can help fight depression and reduce anxiety.
Their rich antioxidant content means that they can help lower your risk of many cancers, diseases and ageing. Did you know that cacao contains 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries?!

Furthermore, the high level of magnesium and flavonoids in the beans help lower inflammation in the body, boosts your immune system and regulates blood pressure.
For these reasons, the raw powder is one of the key ingredients in five of our best-selling products:
The two are often confused and used interchangeably in conversation. However, they are vastly different in terms of their nutrition content.
The reason why is because although both are derived from the same tree, they go through different processing which ultimately affects the end product. They differ in nutrition, depth of flavour and cost.
For both, the harvested beans are fermented for a few days. They are left to develop their flavour before they are dried. Cocoa is then roasted at a high temperature. This is where the change in nutrition happens as roasting the cocoa causes the beans to lose their antioxidants, enzymes and minerals including magnesium and iron.
On the other hand, cacao is the purest form of chocolate. Compared with cocoa, cacao contains 126% more iron, 149% more magnesium, and 136% more potassium!
Additional important benefits of the raw beans include:
The superfood is rich in magnesium, zinc and iron, as well as countless antioxidants.

Yes. According to health experts, it is possible for people who are diagnosed with an underactive thyroid to lose extra weight. However, it will, of course, be more challenging than for people without thyroid issues.
An underactive thyroid, otherwise known as hypothyroidism, is a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce sufficient thyroid hormones. These hormones are required for our bodies to function properly. According to a report, about 5% of the total population suffers from hypothyroidism. An iodine deficiency is the major cause and worldwide, it is more common in women.
Worryingly, about 5% of all hypothyroidism cases go un-diagnosed.
The relationship between the two is a very complex one.
]]>Yes.
Put simply, we know that thyroid hormones regulate your body's metabolism. When your thyroid isn't producing enough hormones, your metabolism slows down. Therefore, this reduces the number of calories your body burns which will likely result in weight gain.
Furthermore, the issue is that people with an underactive thyroid generally feel more fatigued and don't have as much energy which makes exercise even harder.
As you know, having extra weight is not healthy because it promotes further health issues such as cardiovascular problems, hypertension, high blood sugar, joint aches, etc. Therefore, it's necessary for people with an underactive thyroid to make extra efforts to maintain and/or lose weight.
The best way to manage weight is by managing the hypothyroidism. Control the condition, control the weight.
Additionally, here are a few tips to keep in mind if you are trying to lose weight while battling an underactive thyroid:
A high-carb diet is one of the major reasons for weight gain in people with hypothyroidism. The reason for this is because consuming a diet with higher amounts of carbohydrates will trigger the imbalance of thyroid hormones. According to a study, a low-carb diet can promote fat loss in people with an underactive thyroid.
There are various studies that show a higher intake of protein helps boost your metabolic rate. According to a cross-sectional study, the use of protein during hypothyroidism is beneficial because it improves the functioning of the thyroid gland.
If you are a vegetarian or vegan, plant-based protein is just as valuable so don't feel like you must be a meat eater to get all your protein in. Protein sources include eggs, lean meats, poultry, fish and dairy. Plant-based sources include beans, protein-rich nuts, protein powder and pea protein, for example. Finally, try and incorporate plenty of fruits and vegetables and remember to drink lots of water.
As you know, sugar is our big enemy! A high consumption of sugar can cause far too many health issues including high blood sugar, weight gain, kidney issues, etc. The intake of sugar in hypothyroidism triggers further weight gain.
As said by Ruth Frechman, a world-renowned registered dietitian and nutritionist, sugar slows the metabolic process down. A high intake of sugar may also promote fat storage in your stomach and liver.
Exercise is such an important part of burning those extra calories. A combination of cardio exercises and weight training is most effective. This can help speed up your metabolic rate which also means that your body burns more energy throughout the day.
But if you have yet to treat your hypothyroidism condition and suffer from great fatigue and very low energy levels, avoid high-intensity exercises. This can further suppress the condition. It's extremely important to remember that each person is different; what might work for one person may not work for someone else. Listen to your body and do the best you can.
Selenium is an important mineral required for the proper functioning of thyroid hormones and for speeding up weight loss.
A study was conducted on 37 adults; they gave them a small amount of selenium daily for 12 weeks with a low-calorie diet. The results showed that people who took selenium daily resulted in greater fat loss. Additionally, the daily selenium dose improved thyroid function significantly.
The easiest way to up your selenium intake is to consume 3-4 Brazil nuts daily. Other foods rich in selenium include: chicken breast, cottage cheese, halibut, etc. Our Natural Thyroxine food supplement is very rich in selenium, in amongst other nutrients.
If you are deficient in vitamins and minerals, weight loss can become impossible. Unfortunately, despite exercising, eating less sugar and limiting carbs, trying to lose weight with an underactive thyroid is hard so ensuring you're not deficient in nutrients is critical. Most of the time, you won't know how deficient you are until your levels are extremely low. This is why it's best to also include a natural multivitamin supplement into your daily routine.
Goitrogens are substances found in many plant-based foods that actually inhibit the synthesis of the thyroid hormones. This means that the output of these hormones is reduced which worsens the hypothyroidism condition and contributes to additional weight gain.
Although goitrogens can be destroyed by cooking, doctors do recommend that that people who suffer from an underactive thyroid should avoid foods that contain goitrogens. These include Brussel sprouts, turnips, radishes, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, certain beans and sweet potato.
Levothyroxine, the traditional medicine prescribed to hypothyroidism suffers, comes with a multitude of side effects. Furthermore, Levothyroxine only treats the symptoms and not the cause of the under-performing thyroid which means you will likely be on this harsh medication for the rest of your life. This can be detrimental to your health in the long run.
Instead, try and stick with a natural alternative. Our food supplement is very rich in iodine and selenium which helps to regulate your thyroid hormones and promote weight loss. The key ingredients include:
Most importantly, the supplement is completely safe and has NO side effects.
If you are currently taking Levothyroxine and wish to switch to our natural alternative, it's recommended that for the first two weeks you continue the Levothyroxine and start taking the Natural Thyroxine as well. Then, depending on your current dose, slowly lower the medication until you are solely dependent on the natural alternative.
Please get in touch if you have questions regarding dosage.
Hypothyroidism is directly linked with weight gain. People with an underactive thyroid can’t shed extra weight as easily; it can take a long time and extra effort. It's important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat a low-carb high-protein diet, and avoid sugar. Boosting your nutrient levels, specifically selenium and iodine is key. Additionally, to help improve these key nutrients in your body and to see results faster, you should take a natural underactive thyroid supplement.

High blood pressure (hypertension) is when your blood pressure is higher than normal. Depending on your daily activities, your blood pressure changes throughout the day. However, if your blood pressure levels are consistently higher than normal, then you may have hypertension.
In most cases, people who have high blood pressure may have a pounding feeling in their chest or their head. They may feel lightheaded or dizzy.
Extremely high blood pressure can present in symptoms including: severe headaches, nosebleed, fatigue/confusion, vision problems, difficulty breathing, and an irregular heartbeat.
Unfortunately, it is far too common for people who have high blood pressure not to have any symptoms, some people may go years without even knowing that they have the condition. This is very dangerous as hypertension puts you at risk of a cardiovascular disease including heart disease or a stroke. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally and take an estimated 17.9 million lives each year.
Blood pressure is determined by:
The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your arteries, the higher your blood pressure.
Luckily, determining your blood pressure level is easy and painless. It's worth doing on a regular basis to be be sure you do not have hypertension. An inflating arm cuff is used to measure and can be done at your doctor's office, at a pharmacy, or even at home.
A blood pressure reading is given in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). The top number (Systolic Pressure) is the pressure in your arteries when your heart beats. The bottom number (Diastolic Pressure) is the pressure in your arteries between beats.
Source: Adventist Health[/caption]The risk of hypertension increases as you age. Risk factors include unhealthy diets (excessive salt consumption, high saturated fat and trans fats, not enough fruits and vegetables), not enough physical activity, consumption of alcohol, smoking, and being overweight.
Our product is 100% natural and can help lower blood pressure naturally without any side effects. We specifically chose each ingredient based on the research to support each and every claim.

This formula completed its meticulous testing a year ago. Since then it has been trialed with select clients to ensure the utmost quality and effectiveness.
We are thrilled at our clients' results and feedback so are happy to announce its is now available for sale at a special introductory price here.
The Natural Thyroxine formula is a combination of our two top selling, incredibly powerful products: Anti-Anxiety & Sleep Aid, and the Immune System Booster, and an additional four ingredients.
Our bodies have a butterfly-shaped thyroid gland located on the front of our necks. The role of the thyroid gland is to produce key hormones for the body to function properly. These two hormones are nicknamed T3 and T4 and are secreted into the blood.
The gland plays a major role in the metabolism, growth and development of our bodies.
When this gland does not produce enough of these vital hormones, it can cause muscle and joint aches as well as swelling and tenderness. It can make you constantly feel tired, lead to memory problems as well as the thinning of the hair, dry skin, high cholesterol, and a slower heart rate.
There are other issues such as putting on weight, no energy, mood swings. These are just some symptoms of people who have an underactive thyroid gland.
In order to determine whether you have this condition, you need to do a blood test. This will show how much of the hormone your body is producing, and what your T3 and T4 levels are.
Based on the blood test results, a doctor will prescribe medication to rectify these low levels and to replace these missing hormones not currently being produced naturally by the body.
This is mainly levothyroxine what is given to clients.
Unfortunately, once you are prescribed Levothyroxine, you’ll usually need treatment for the rest of your life. It also comes with a lot of negative side effects. These include heat sensitivity, excessive sweating, headache, hyperactivity, nervousness, and anxiety.
Our product has the exact same effect without the endless side effects that come with Levothyroxine.
Our 100% Natural Thyroxine motivates the body to produce the levothyroxine naturally without the need for medication. The gland becomes activated to start producing the additional hormones required.
Here are some of our client reviews:
For thyroid hormone synthesis and function, micronutrients including iodine and selenium are required. A simple and painless vitamin and mineral test can be done to determine if a deficiency exists.
A deficiency of either iodine or selenium points directly to an under-active thyroid. These two nutrients go hand in hand and are very closely linked, so a deficiency of one will mean a deficiency of the other.
At the other end of the spectrum, if you have levels of these nutrients that are too high, you could have an over-active thyroid.
This is a trace element and an essential component of the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. Iodine helps keep cells and the metabolic rate healthy. The metabolic rate is the speed at which chemical reactions take place in the body. Foods rich in iodine include fish, certain dairy products, and iodized salt.
Kelp is the best natural vegan source of iodine which is why it is one of the ingredients in our Natural Thyroxine.
The thyroid is the organ that has the highest concentration of selenium in the body. The micro-nutrient has important antioxidant activities and removes oxygen free-radicals generated during the production of thyroid hormones. It helps to reduce thyroid antibodies and makes people with Hashimoto’s-induced anxiety feel calmer.
Brazil nuts contain high levels of selenium. If you are deficient in selenium, just 3-4 brazil nuts daily will help improve your levels within a short period of time. This is why brazil nuts are another important ingredient in our Natural Thyroxine product.

The nutrient also helps to maintain the immune system, cholesterol, and nerve cells. It is best for pregnant ladies for the growth and development of their child.
The human body cannot produce Copper naturally, so it is vital that we get the recommended amount from our diet. Our body needs only a small amount. The RDA for adults is 900 mcg. But for pregnant women, their RDA is slightly higher at 1-1.3 mg.
➕Due to its antioxidant properties, copper can destroy free radicals. Free radicals are the harmful chemicals that destroy cells and cause diseases such as cancer
➕helps to improve cardiovascular health
➕acts as an anti-aging agent. It helps in the renewal of damaged connective tissue and collagen. Collagen is important to hold our bones together and in place. A collagen deficiency can cause problems with joints and degradation of connective tissue
➕it protects bone density. A lack of copper can cause osteopenia, osteoporosis, and arthritis
➕helps to boost the immune system. Copper deficiency kills white blood cells that take part in immune-boosting. Thus maintaining correct copper levels is important for a strong immune system and a general healthy life
Taking an extra dose of the nutrient in diets can cause copper toxicity. Levels greater than 140 mcg/dl in the blood can lead to toxicity. In turn, this leads to many mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and mood swings.
A deficiency is an uncommon condition. It can happen when people take too much zinc. This is because zinc and copper compete over the absorption into our bodies.
There are some common symptoms of a deficiency that includes:
It can be due to taking too much zinc and vitamin C. Another cause is gastrointestinal surgery.

In the 17th century, a man in the British army was nicknamed "Limsay" because he used to drink excessive amounts of lime juice. The reason why? Because many soldiers were suffering from a disease called Scurvy (vitamin C deficiency).
The symptoms of scurvy include bleeding gums and black and blue scars on the gums. They started drinking excessive amounts of lime juice, which helped them cope with scurvy because limes are so high in the vitamin.
But remember, taking more than 2000mg a day can cause stomach problems and diarrhea.
The vitamin is water-soluble, and our bodies can't store it, so people must eat vitamin C-rich foods and/or take a supplement. Otherwise, the are at risk to develop a deficiency.

Anxiety affects daily life activities; it can be extremely challenging to manage and can become permanent. A person suffering from the disorder may avoid such situations to prevent anxiety or stress.
Under the umbrella of ‘anxiety’, there are many different types that people can experience. Some of the major types include:
People who have agoraphobia have a strong fear of situations where it might be difficult to escape, such as leaving home to go to the supermarket. If they find themselves in such situations, they will most likely experience a panic attack. Naturally, they will avoid these places, and instead, for example, order their food shopping online.
What is a panic attack?
It’s a rush of intense mental and physical feelings. It’s when your body’s fight-or-flight response takes over. During an attack, you might experience a racing heartbeat, feeling faint, sweating, fear of dying, chest pain, shortness of breath. It can be very frightening and symptoms usually last 5-20 minutes.
People with GAD experience chronic and excessive anxiety. They feel nervous about everything and are convinced that nothing good will ever happen to them. This is even though nothing has occurred to provoke these feelings.
Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder where people experience continual panic attacks.
This type is characterized by overwhelming anxiety in everyday social situations. People will experience over the top self-consciousness. Depending on the severity of the disorder, people may only experience these feelings in one type of situation. For example, public speaking. Others, however, may feel excessive fear from simply being around other people outside of their home.
This type is common in children. In this, they cannot speak in certain situations, for example, in school and social gatherings. They are still able to communicate with family members and friends. This condition affects their schoolwork and social functioning greatly.
This condition is also common in children, which is caused by anxiety or depression. Kids mostly experience this disorder after separation from their loved ones.
In this type, people fear a specific thing, place, or person. Their response is to completely avoid all these things that will trigger their anxiety.
Symptoms can vary between people. But generally, you feel out of control and feel no connection between mind and body. People may experience panic attacks, nightmares, fear, negative thoughts, and sadness.
Further symptoms can include:
According to the National Institute of Mental Health , the actual cause of anxiety is still unknown. However, there are few factors that play a role. These include:
According to most research, environmental factors are the leading cause of anxiety. These factors include childhood abuse or mistreatment, domestic violence, loss of loved ones, financial problems, and any negative life incidents.
According to researchers, it can sometimes be inborn or genetic. It can be inherited from parents to children.
Few drugs are used to control anxiety but misusing them or using for extended period can make it worse.
Some medical conditions, like heart problems, lungs, and thyroid problems, can also cause anxiety or further increase symptoms.
Others claim that an anxiety disorder may be due to fault in a specific part of your brain’s ‘wiring’; the part that controls emotions and fear.
Dopamine and serotonin are neurotransmitters that regulate various human functions such as sleep, digestion, and mental health. According to researchers, deficiencies in these are linked with anxiety issues too.
Dopamine is also called ‘the happy hormone’. It’s linked with hope, motivation, and reward. It plays a role in how we feel pleasure.
As we have discussed, the main symptoms of anxiety are:
According to experts, these are symptoms that are due to a problem in dopamine system functions. Furthermore, according to researchers, people experience anxiety due to a low level of serotonin.
When you're flooded with constant panic attacks, paralyzed by fear, exhausted from yet another sleepless night, you will do anything at any cost to get relief. Of course, medication provides relief from anxiety. But the question is, are drugs always the best option?
Different types of medications are used to treat anxiety disorders, including traditional drugs like Benzodiazepines, and modern options such as SSRI antidepressants. These drugs provide temporary relief, but they have certain side effects and safety concerns.
The most widely prescribed medication for anxiety is Benzodiazepines, also termed tranquilizers. Other drugs like Xanax (Alprazolam), Klonopin (Clonazepam), Valium (Diazepam), and Ativan (Lorazepam) work efficiently and quickly.
Benzodiazepines help you relax both physically and mentally by slowing down your nervous system. They provide relief within 30 minutes to an hour. If they are taken during a panic attack, they can be very effective.
But the problem is is that they are highly addictive and can easily become an addiction. These are not recommended for long-term use. They cause ‘rebound anxiety’, which ends up being worse than the original problem.
Furthermore, they are not even a cure. They don't provide relief for the long term because your body becomes immune to them over time. The American Academy of Family Physicians claim that a person becomes resistant to Benzodiazepines if used for 4 to 6 months regularly. What happens then, is that you require a larger dose to get the same relief you used to feel in the beginning. This can be dangerous.
Finally, if a high dose of medication is given, then it can cause severe problems with school, work, or daily life activities such as driving. The effects of the medication can last into the next day.
Unfortunately, there are also side effects of taking benzodiazepines. These can include:
On the other hand, natural remedies are safe to use. People who suffer from anxiety should really try and incorporate as many natural remedies as possible to try and control their disorders. Natural remedies for anxiety don’t have any side effects and you can follow and try as many different ones as you wish.
Traditional medications may still be required in serious cases however you should always try and think long-term. 5mg of Ativan during a panic attack may relieve the suffering in the moment, but what about the next time that it happens?
Psychologists suggest few natural remedies for treatment including:
Coping with anxiety is a 24/7 job so you must find what works best for you. All people are different and although it might take time and trial and error, it’s worth it in the long-term.
Doctors have suggested several natural supplements, herbs, and vitamins for treatment. Some include:
Our expertly created anti-anxiety supplement works by producing both dopamine and serotonin naturally without the need for chemical medications. The supplement is made of 19 natural ingredients, have zero side-effects, 100% vegan, and can be taken in higher doses without the worry of overdosing.
Our supplements are rich in amino acids tryptophan, lysine, and phenylalanine. These boost serotonin levels to boost your mood.

As a final note, I want to say that it’s important to remember that natural supplements for anxiety may help calm symptoms but, in some cases, it will not cure. The same goes for traditional medications.
This is especially true for those sufferers who experience anxiety due to emotional trauma and/or past life events, that most likely, they have not dealt with. It can be uncomfortable, expensive, and painful to face, but the reality is is that many cases, it’s necessary.

Fenugreek is a unique herb and a powerful medicinal plant that is quite similar to clover. It’s been used in alternative medicine for a very long time.
The plant is native to India and North Africa, but it is grown and consumed around the globe. The seeds are used in cooking, and in medicine.
It’s main benefit and use is for people with diabetes as it slows the absorption of sugars in the stomach and stimulates insulin. This is because it contains an amino acid responsible for the production of insulin.
Fenugreek is further used in manufacturing. The extract is used in the production of soaps and cosmetics.
Just one tablespoon (around 11 grams) of fenugreek contains:
FUN FACT:
Fenugreek contains the aromatic compound ‘sotolon’. It can cause perspiration and urine to smell like maple syrup after prolonged use.
]]>Manganese is a trace mineral and is vital for many bodily functions. However, our bodies only require a small amount of manganese.
It is needed for normal brain and nervous system functioning, and for many other enzyme systems. It’s considered an ‘essential nutrient’ because our bodies need it to function properly.
Our bodies store up to around 20mg of manganese in our kidneys, liver, pancreas, and bones. However, it’s also important that we get additional manganese from our diets.

➕ bone development and maintenance, weak and brittle bones (osteoporosis), osteoarthritis. To help with osteoporosis, people should take manganese along with copper, zinc, and calcium.
➕ crucial for hormone production. In particularly, manganese is involved in the production of thyroxine. This is the main hormone that is secreted by your thyroid. People with low levels of manganese may suffer from hypothyroidism – a condition where your thyroid doesn’t produce enough of the hormone
➕ may help protect your brain against free radicals because of its antioxidant properties. Manganese plays a role in the function of antioxidant super-oxide dismutase (SOD). In simple terms, SODs are antioxidant enzymes that help protect cells. They convert free radicals into oxygen and hydrogen, thus preventing further damage.
Too much manganese can actually make you crazy! It’s called ‘Manganism’ (manganese toxicity) and symptoms include tremors, difficulty walking, and facial muscle spasms.
Also, too much manganese may also cause anemia. This is because manganese competes with iron for absorption. Research has shown that people who have an iron deficiency may absorb more manganese. Therefore, those should really watch their consumption of manganese more closely.
As a note, no official RDA exists. Instead, we have an Adequate Intake (AI) which is used as a guide. It depends on gender, health issues, and age, but a healthy adult generally requires around 2mg per day. Too much of the mineral includes doses of 11 mg per day which is quite a lot!
Symptoms include poor bone growth or skeletal defects, low fertility, glucose intolerance, weight gain, and hormone imbalances.
If you have a condition including epilepsy, diabetes, osteoporosis, you may be at a higher risk of manganese deficiency.
Leafy green vegetables (spinach)
Oatmeal and bran
Whole wheat bread and brown rice
Beans & legumes (lima beans, pinto beans)
Nuts (almonds and pecans)
Fruits (pineapple and acai)
Dark chocolate
If you are, or are worried about being deficient in manganese, our Turmeric Curcumin capsules contain a significant amount of manganese.
]]>Scientific Name: Panax ginseng
Alternative Names: American ginseng, Chinese ginseng, Korean ginseng, man-root, Schinsent
We use ginseng in our very popular Memory Booster product.
Ginseng is usually marketed as an energy and sexual vitality booster. However, the root also provides a wide range of cognitive and mental health benefits.
For thousands of years, Chinese medicine has used the root to aid with memory loss. Especially in aging adults. The belief is that it can improve learning and overall memory. Many studies support their claims.
There has even been studies done on people who suffer from Alzheimer’s. Patients were given 4.5 grams of ginseng daily over a 12-week period. Results showed that those who were given the root had enhanced cognitive performance compared with those patients that were given a placebo.
Another study on middle-aged dementia patients showed similar results. These patients unfortunately had strokes which caused their dementia. They were given the root over a 12-week period and results showed improved memory scores. This was compared with those that were given Duxil, a chemical drug.
Interestingly, when it is used together with ginkgo biloba, they have a synergistic effect and improve both working and long-term memory.
We use both ginseng and ginkgo biloba together in our Memory Booster formula. Moreover, we include a further 21 natural ingredients that have contributing effects on memory functions.
The root (no matter which species) contains ‘ginsenosides‘. These are compounds that are responsible for the multitude of benefits it has to offer. The ginsenosides have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties.
Ginseng stimulates the release of acetylcholine – the neurotransmitter associated with learning and memory.
Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it also helps to treat (not cure) many neurological diseases. These include Parkinson’s, strokes, and Alzheimer’s.
It also increases circulation in the body and sends more blood to your organs. This increases blood flow in the brain. This is also why certain varieties of the root, such as Red Korean Ginseng, is used as a testosterone and libido booster. It is also used for men with erectile dysfunction.
Most importantly, ginseng increases levels of important neurotransmitters including dopamine, serotonin, GABA, and nor-epinephrine.
Our Memory Booster does just that – produces natural dopamine to stimulate brain functions.
Zinc is an essential mineral and is a multi tasker with benefits. Its main vital role is to strengthen the immune system. Zinc is required for our immune cells to form properly and function. Without zinc, our immune activity slows down making us more susceptible to viruses and bacteria.
Our bodies do not produce zinc so I cannot emphasize the importance of eating zinc-high foods and/or taking a supplement high in zinc.
The RDA (recommended daily amount) is 11mg for men, 8mg for women. Up to 40mg is considered safe.
➕ wound healing ➕ healthy lung function ➕ bone formation ➕ prostate health ➕ sexual function
Seven studies were done and found that just 80-92mg of zinc per day reduced the length of the common cold by up to 33%?
Also, did you know that zinc can be absorbed through the skin?
Diarrhea, impaired immune function, loss of taste/appetite, hair loss, acne, white spots on fingernails, delayed growth, insomnia, lethargy, low libido/impotence, altered mood
From not eating enough foods containing zinc or from not taking a zinc-high supplement. People who are vegetarian or vegan, and are pregnant and/or nursing are at a greater risk of deficiency.
Meats - shellfish, red meat, poultry, fish
𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐬 - lentils, chickpeas, black beans, kidney beans
Whole 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧s
𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐬 & S𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬
Vegetables - mushrooms, kale, peas, asparagus, beet greens
Now that we are in winter, we are all after something to boost our immune system. Make sure that you are eating enough foods that are high in zinc daily. Zinc is so important that it is actually present in every cell in our bodies.
If you are in need of a boost to your immune system, or require a multi-vitamin, have a look at our Immune System Booster. It contains just 3 pure ingredients – Turmeric, Moringa, and Maca.
